Taking in the Moments of Life

Taking in the Moments of Life

Enjoying the community that we live in has always been something that I have found to be favorable in my life. Taking the moments of life and reaching out to enjoy the activities of the area.  Taking a few extra moments to say hello and smile as one moves around the community we call Texoma. You can really see the difference when you take a few extra steps to smile and say hello.

We moved to Texas in May of 1976.... in the heat of the Summer. Well, one might say this was a huge difference from the state we moved from. Minnesota

My grandmother had this saying, which was so very true.  Bloom where you are planted at Laura. She was spot on with this statement and until I was much older did it really make sense to me. Bloom and make a difference is the place God Plants you even if you are unsure of the great big WHY ... of it all. As I moved into the high school years of life there was a vocational program offered which seems like it might be fun.

Back in the day, they offered more of this than what they do now. Cosmetology was the choice for me. The love of makeup and getting all prettied up was just something fun at the time. Which lead to me graduating with the ability to get a job asap. A few years later I opened up my own salon and the kids that came along with life and being married let me be a stay at home mom and make little extra funds to help out.

Service with a smile really does make a difference as well as learning to listen.

Back in the day when Rollers and hair dryers were in style...... and you had regular clients come in every week on the same day and time.... Loved it really did make so many friends....

Spent several years in the Hair Salon business from 1982 to 2001 .... Then life took a new turn and Real Estate became the next adventure of life....

In 2001 took a few classes and then guess what passed the Real Estate Exam with flying colors..... Yahoo right oh ya it was interesting, to say the least.

Back in the day, you had to find a Broker to sponsor you before you could take the Real Estate exam... Dan Robertson was my first Broker we are still friends and he gives me encouragement all the time.

In 2003 received my Brokers license and opened my own office in 2008... We are still in the same location Downtown Whitesboro. The fact is this is an amazing little town and the love of community abounds. We have did not look back. We are thankful and blessed to be a part of the Whitesboro community.

Laura and Andrea A family run Real Estate office The support of my husband Thomas and my daughter Andrea has made this adventure in Real Estate special every step of the way. Andrea joined the family-run business about 6 years ago, she now has her Broker's license as well. Proud Momma moment.

Owning a Real Estate Brokerage is somewhat similar to running a Hair salon there is a lot of one on one time with the folks you work with. For the most part, one might say you make friends for a lifetime. Life is so much fun and it really is amazing.

Bloom where you are planted smile and say hello it really is worth it.

May you find the place that God has planned for you, blessings sent.

Your friends in the Real Estate business.

It sounds like you definitely bloomed where you were planted.  Minnesota to Texas, that is a BIG change.  Well done!

Good morning Laura, we have so much in common with our careers, I too got my cosmetology license in 1980=2001 and started real estate in 2001, 21 years of being a physiologist to my clients too bad that wasn't my degree but sure felt like it. I became a real estate agent in 2001 and Broker in 2004 so not to much longer after you got your broker license. Thanks for sharing your story.
