2011 Great Hamburger Cook-Off

Rules
1) "Teams" can consist of any number of people, but one member must be chosen of captain. Teams can consist of one member.
2) Cookers must provide a grill or smoker and necessary fuel to cook product.
3) All property used must be confined to your allocated space. All equipment must be free standing- no stakes, post holes or digging allowed. Use of sand buckets is allowed.
4) No pre cooking allowed. Cooking will begin after the chief meeting. Beef/meat will be inspected prior to cooking. Patty must be 75% beef. You must submit ingredients upon sign in. (Your secret spices and marinades are your business and you are not required to disclose them.)
5) All fires must be contained. Absolutely no ground fires and digging pits.
6) Head cook is responsible for team conduct. No lewd or inappropriate behavior will be tolerated. No alcoholic beverages are allowed. Failure to comply will result in disqualification.
7) Each team is responsible for cleaning up their cooking area.
8) IESI, Keep Whitesboro Beautiful and the City of Whitesboro will not be held responsible for loss, damage, thief, injury or accidents.
9) The cook off has the right to amend regulations as circumstances warrant.
10) Each group will prepare 6 hamburgers for judging. All teams was participate in People's Choice Award you must cook a minimum of 20 pounds of meat.
11) Burgers must be cooked according to Grayson County Health department rules. Grayson County Health Department food handlers will be available to you at all times during the cook-off and their instructions are MANDATORY with regard to handling, storing, cooking and distribution of food. We strongly recommend you get a food handlers card which is available from Grayson County Health Department.
12) Entry deadline for event will be June 8, 2011 at 5:00PM. Teams will be placed in a spot upon arrival and check in on Saturday June 18, 2011. Teams may set up at 8:00 AM. Late entries are welcome if space is available.
13) Judging begins at 12 noon Saturday June 18, 2011. You will be given your judging slot upon check-in. Burgers who are not at the judge's tent 5 minutes before the slot time will be disqualified.
14) This is a true Hamburger cook-off and hamburgers will be judged on one and only one criteria...TASTE/FLAVOR. If you make the best tasting burger you win! With that in mind presentation and originality can make your food taste better, but at the end of the day, we want to find the best tasting burger!
15) Peoples Choice will be judged on by people that come to the event.
16) $500.00 dollar winner take all for best tasting burger. Trophies will be awarded for the first, second and third. $250.00 for People's Choice.
All funds help support Keep Whitesboro Beautiful. There will be a car show also held on Main Street so we are expecting a good turn-out.
